Sample Answer (The Phantom of The Opera)

Based on a novel that you have learned, write about the theme of loyalty in the story. Provide evidence from the text to support your answer. I choose the novel The Phantom of The Opera written by Gaston Leroux. The theme of loyalty is clearly shown in this novel. There are many examples that show loyalty throughout the story. First of all, we can see loyalty in Raoul. He falls in love with Christine when they meet in Brittany. However, their love doesn’t grow because they are later separated for four years. Even though they are separated, Raoul is always loyal in his love to Christine. Later, when Raoul and Christine meet again at The Opera House, Raoul really wants to continue their love story. He writes a letter to Christine, asking her to meet him at a garden. Since that day, their love is refreshed and becomes stronger. Apart from that, Raoul’s loyalty to Christine can be seen when she is kidnapped by Erik. After the blackout at The Opera House, Christine is missing. Raoul
